IMSchools, Wilmington Parent Testimonial
Our family loves being part of the International Montessori School (IMS) of Wilmington. You feel like a big family. The staff are open and friendly. Their hands-on approach to learning has helped our child develop in knowledge, skills, values, and personality. The lessons are tailored to the student's interest to keep them engaged in the learning process. The environment is clean and conducive to learning. The area is quite secure as well. My wife is an elementary school children and looked at many pre-schools before deciding on IMS. We are happy with choosing IMS and soon our newborn will be attending the program.

Our family relocated to Delaware from Texas in October 2014. Our oldest child was transferring from a Montessori School in Dallas. Karen Pontrelli and her wonderful staff of educators at the International Montessori Schools, Wilmington campus made the process to interview and enroll both of our children into the Preprimary and Primary programs a seamless one.
IMSchools, Wilmington Campus has such a warm, nurturing environment and stays true to the teachings of Dr. Maria Montessori. The teachers are so in tune with each child’s unique personality and style of learning. Our son Jackson graduated from IMSchools, Wilmington Campus this past June, and the commencement ceremony was perfect. Our daughter Ella, who was in the Preprimary Program has really blossomed this year with the guidance of her teachers and her true personality really shone.
We are, once again relocating to Texas; however, the knowledge and life experiences our children have attained will benefit them as continue their educational journey. We wish IMSchools, Wilmington Campus the very best of luck for the 2016-2017 school year!
Warm Regards,
Chris, Eden, Jackson, and Ella McClelland

I had visited every daycare in my area after our daughter was born, in hopes of walking into one and getting that feeling that, "this is it." We ended up settling for a daycare, but only after 2 months began our search again because our daughter was so unhappy where she was. That's when we found International Montessori School (Wilmington Campus), and FINALLY had that, "this is it," moment we had been searching for all along.
What sets the International Montessori School (Wilmington Campus) apart from all of the other daycares we visited is apparent as soon as you walk in. It doesn't look like a daycare, but a home away from home. The classrooms have natural lighting from the large windows in the building that overlook the beautiful property, and lamps that light the rooms instead of fluorescent lighting that you see everywhere else you go. The classrooms are organized, clean, and filled with materials and activities that have educational purpose instead of plastic toys and clutter that are so often used just to pacify children. What we also loved is that the classrooms are a mix of different (but appropriate) age groups so that the smaller children can learn from the bigger children. I feel that my daughter is so advanced for her age because of all she's learning from her older classmates.
If you're looking for a place that truly cares for and teaches your child(ren) life skills and lessons, and not just a babysitter with jumperoos, then this is the place for your child! I promise you won't be disappointed! My daughter hasn't been since the day we switched :)
Why we chose and like International Montessori School, Wilmington Campus
We enrolled our son in International Montessori Schools, Wilmington Campus for a variety of reasons. At the start we did not know a lot about Montessori education except that is was an alternative approach. We believe in the child’s capacity to learn by self-direction and were hoping for an environment where creativity and diversity were emphasized. Furthermore, we got a very personal testament from a colleague whose college age children attended The Montessori Academy of Delaware, founded by Karen Pontrelli (now under the ownership of International Montessori but still managed by Karen). He could not have spoken more highly of Karen Pontrelli and the staff she employs as well as how and what children learn, that it was clear to us we would send Gabriel here.
When we interviewed, a lot of the things we heard were confirmed and we learned more about Montessori. Here are a few of the things that became most important to us.
1) Teaching respect as a central value
2) Mixed age groups, children teaching other children
3) Self-directed learning
4) Discipline: Focus on behaviors, helping children work through difficult behaviors
Our son has flourished at International Montessori Schools, Wilmington Campus. We are confident that this school is the best choice for early child development.

We love International Montessori Schools, Wilmington Campus for so many reasons. The teachers…… they are amazing, welcoming and caring, and you can truly tell they love each one of these children and treat them like their own. We chose this school because of the warm feeling we immediately got from our first visit and the welcoming nature of Karen and all the teachers. The teachers made the transition to the school beyond easy because of their reassurance that "everything will be fine",…. and it was (just a few minutes after we left each day that first week!) Rhys continues to be excited to go to school everyday!
We absolutely love the Montessori program and the philosophy behind it. The practical life skills that Rhys has learned, his independence and "wanting to do things on his own" has grown tremendously! We are beyond happy with all the school has offered to Rhys so far and look forward to all of our children going to IMSchools, Wilmington campus! Thank you for all to do to keep Rhys and Ridley safe and engaged in learning new skills on a daily basis.

A parent's testimonial
International Montessori Schools, Wilmington campus has been an Absolute blessing in our lives. It all begins with Karen, she is so incredibly caring and is always there to assist with any need that my daughter has.
My daughter is almost 2 years old, and she began attending IMSchools, Wilmington campus at 11 months old in the Infant Program with Ganga and Carolina, who are both nothing short of amazing people. Ganga is an absolute saint, she is so wonderful and made me feel so comfortable leaving my baby to go to work, which you know as a parent is one of the hardest things we go through. From the very beginning of our journey with IMSchools, Wilmington campus, my daughter has excelled, coming home each day with something new. She is now in Jill Slader's class (another AMAZING person). I am completely shocked each day when I hear my Daughter counting her cheerios and singing her ABC's at not even 2 years of age!!
Jill is so wonderful and is always so attentive to my daughter's every need. She is on top of everything and super informative about my daughter's progress. Choosing to send our child to IMSchools, Wilmington campus has been the best decision we have made for her thus far. I am So incredibly pleased with everyone at the school, and I cannot express to you enough how amazing it really is. I very highly recommend sending your child to IMSchools, Wilmington campus! You will not be disappointed in the slightest.

- Our daughter has been at the school since 6 months old. This is one of the few Montessori schools in the area that will take infants. We also loved the home like setting. The facility is warm and inviting. Our daughter is now in the pre-primary class and is thriving. She loves going to school!- Michael Niman. 9/10/20177 Reviews

- My two year old attends here and we love it! All of the staff know my daughter, my husband and me by name and they are genuinely interested in ensuring we all have the best experience possible there. My daughter’s vocabulary has blossomed since she has been there, and her sense of self and independence too. She even asks to prepare her own snacks, goes to the bathroom independently and operates in the Montessori way at home. Highly recommended and I can’t say enough good things about this place!!- Lisa Street. 9/6/20177 Reviews
- My son is currently in his 5th year at the International Montessori School, and we are sad that he is already moving onto a new school next year. We could not be happier with the care and education he has received here. His teachers have all been very attentive and nurturing, and he does not hesitate to greet them with a hug every day. This is especially important to his dad and I as he spends several hours, including aftercare, at his school. We are so happy to see that he is comfortable and "at home" while at school and we have a tremendous amount of trust in the teachers and staff there. The Montessori curriculum has truly helped him to grow in his own unique way. I really like how the curriculum circles back on itself from one year to the next, allowing my son to get reintroduced to concepts that he has already learned. This gave him a "second chance" with some concepts that he was weak on the first time around OR master a concept he already had a good grasp on the previous year. In this way, he has developed confidence and is ready to move onto the next step in his education! Please consider sending your child to this great school!- J G. 10/21/20167 Reviews
